Disk I/O profiling with eBPF
Coroot has introduced a new eBPF-based disk I/O profiler for its node agent that attributes I/O wait time, read bytes, and write bytes directly to application stack traces without heavy overhead. The tool uses a per-CPU sampling mechanism at the block layer to capture asynchronous operations and cold cache misses. According to the company, the profiler adds negligible CPU overhead and helps engineers identify the exact code paths causing storage bottlenecks. Open article →
