JIT bitmap text rendering for microcontrollers
An engineer has developed a high-performance just-in-time (JIT) compilation technique for rendering proportional bitmap text on the RP2350 microcontroller. Implemented for a race-the-beam renderer, the JIT compiler generates highly optimized ARM assembly code on the fly to expand strings into a 1-bit-per-pixel buffer, achieving execution speeds of 23 cycles per glyph while minimizing RAM usage.
