Google researchers have introduced Ginger, an open-source C++ library designed for graph-based approximate nearest neighbor search that improves speed and memory efficiency on large high-dimensional embedding datasets. Ginger leverages a two-level quantizer called Nested TurboQuant and a lossless compression codec named AdaptiveGap to surpass existing libraries in query throughput and indexing time while maintaining a compact memory footprint.
