losfair/l4h: seL4-based hypervisor for Linux VMs
L4H is a production-ready Type-1 hypervisor for Linux VMs built on the seL4 microkernel, designed to run Linux as user-mode threads without hardware virtualization capabilities. Running on 2020+ Intel and AMD CPUs, the hypervisor isolates each guest to protect its integrity and prevent dom0 from having full control over memory or register state. Benchmarks indicate that L4H performs comparably to Xen PV on IO-intensive workloads and achieves performance loss of 5 to 10 percent compared to bare metal on most workloads. Open article →
