Advancing the frontier of cryptanalysis

Google DeepMind researchers report that AI agents can accelerate cryptanalysis by stress-testing obsolete 1024-bit RSA cryptosystems with lower computational budgets than previously thought possible. The team discovered that digital signature padding offers no protection once an attacker controls roughly half of the signed block, and also found a new batch-factorisation algorithm with improved asymptotic complexity.
