Retex is a new TeX engine written in Rust from scratch as a clean-room implementation of LuaLaTeX. It produces pixel-identical PDF outputs while running significantly faster than LuaLaTeX, handling multiple passes and comprehensive error reporting directly in the browser or via command line.
