Bernstein warns HBF could raise SSD prices

According to analysts at Bernstein, upcoming High Bandwidth Flash (HBF) memory stacks are estimated to cost $0.64 per GB, which is significantly cheaper than HBM4 stacks. However, because each HBF stack consumes 6.5 times more wafers than typical TLC NAND, commercialization could squeeze NAND supply and preclude cheaper SSDs for the foreseeable future. SanDisk and SK hynix are currently developing an HBF standard with a commercial rollout expected by 2028 or 2029. Open article →
