Outshift by Cisco shows 75% multi-agent debate failures
Outshift by Cisco research found that five-agent AI teams agreed on the wrong outcome in 75% of debates because they favored speed and low token bills over the hard work of aligning on intent, coordinating, and verifying results. According to Outshift SVP Vijoy Pandey, shared context alone is insufficient to solve this coordination problem, which is expected to worsen as enterprises deploy more specialized multi-agent systems and heterogeneous tool stacks. To address these cognitive failures, Outshift open-sourced several tools—Scope, Accord, Concord, and MAS Lab—to make multi-agent alignment visible and testable against intended outcomes.
