Microsoft continues using dark patterns, including misleading banners, default-browser restrictions, and forced actions, to steer Windows users toward Edge. Users outside the European Economic Area encounter more interference when downloading, setting, and keeping an alternative default browser, demonstrating how regulatory requirements can directly affect interface design. Windows features such as Search and Widgets can also bypass a user's chosen default and open links in Edge, reinforcing concerns that Microsoft's design decisions undermine meaningful browser choice.

Koto's identity for restaurant discovery app Franki turns finding places to eat into the visual language of an insider's club, centered on bright yellow, oversized rounded typography, candid photography, and conversational copy. Diatype Rounded and a soft geometric symbol create a friendly foundation, while phrases such as “If we know, you know” reinforce Franki's positioning as a knowledgeable friend rather than a conventional recommendation platform. Motion extends through typography, UI, and content to suit the video-first product, while the same system carries into Franki Social Club and physical experiences.

Figma Weave's full lineup of video and image models, including Seedance, Kling, and Nano Banana, can now be used inside external AI agents through the Figma MCP. Users need a Figma Weave account connected to their Figma account to generate media mid-conversation. Each video or image generated with a Weave model consumes Weave credits.

Three enduring principles remain essential to good design despite AI dramatically accelerating creative work: iteration, feedback, and connecting the dots. Faster generation makes exploring alternatives cheaper, but quality still requires repeated refinement, diverse human perspectives, and judgment about which feedback matters rather than accepting AI's first answer or treating it as the only critic. Designers also need time away from production to process accumulated knowledge and recognize larger connections, because AI can generate faster than humans can meaningfully reflect.

Creative work can be approached like tending a garden: cultivate favorable conditions, return consistently, encourage unexpected cross-pollination, and protect fragile ideas before judging them too quickly. Pruning unnecessary work and deliberately leaving room for play can be as important as producing more, while not every experiment needs an obvious payoff. Ideas also benefit from periods of inactivity and patience, making it useful to distinguish between moments that require greater effort and those that simply require more time.

Turn engineering intent into structured CAD with zCAD AI. Describe requirements, generate the model, inspect the result, and continue through revision.

Microsoft's evolving Copilot identity positions AI as a practical tool embedded in everyday work rather than an abstract futuristic technology. Its animated two-part mark, paired sans-serif and serif typography, gradients, and flexible graphic system create continuity across Microsoft's ecosystem while giving Copilot a recognizable presence of its own. The system is designed to scale across product interfaces, campaigns, and motion, balancing the expressiveness needed to represent generative AI with the clarity expected from a productivity tool.

A product email can look right in a design file yet fail its reader through a vanishing action, a surviving staging link, or a duplicate send. Using a workspace invitation as the example, nine checks cover the message's behavioral contract, client compatibility, accessibility, captured application output, link validation, and retry handling. Delivery evidence, such as authentication and bounce handling, is reviewed separately after the template passes.

Estonian designer and street artist Ingmar Järve, known as Gutface, fills murals, prints, and digital work with distorted figures, deadpan faces, and satirical cartoon humor.

Apple is exploring ways for websites to extend into the space behind Safari's right-aligned controls on the iPhone Duo's outer display, potentially giving web designers more usable width without obscuring important content.

Nebbia's Interlude, a climbable stone portal on a cliff overlooking Lake Whakatipu, is the second completed work in Paererewā's plan for 1,000 works lasting 1,000 years.
