Mastercard plans to help financial institutions offer cryptocurrency trading by acting as a bridge between Paxos and banks. Paxos is a crypto trading platform used by companies like PayPal. Mastercard and Paxos will handle regulatory compliance and security. Many consumers would like to enter into crypto but would rather test the waters through their existing banks. Mastercard will start test running the program in the first quarter of next year.

Arbitrum Founder Dismisses Launch of First Mainnet zkEVM (1 minute read)
The co-founder of OffChain Labs Steven Goldfeder says that there won't be any zkEVM launches on mainnet before the end of the month. While one team claims that it is 12 days away from a product-ready zkRollup, their testnet still doesn't have zkproofs enabled and there have been no security audits. Many teams are making steady progress, but the technology is still not ready.
The Next Major Ethereum Upgrade, Shanghai, Now Has a Testnet (2 minute read)
The Shandong testnet, the testnet for Ethereum's Shanghai upgrade, is now live. The Shanghai upgrade is projected to happen in 2023. It will include several Ethereum Improvement Proposals aimed at addressing some efficiency and scalability issues. The upgrade will also allow those who have staked ETH on the Beacon Chain to withdraw their stake and rewards. The final list of proposals that will be considered for inclusion in the Shanghai upgrade won't be finalized for a while.
