Strive Buys 3k Bitcoin for $280M, Now Fifth-Largest Corporate Holder (3 minute read)
Strive acquired 3,311 BTC between October 5 and 9 for $280M at an average of ~$84,500, bringing its total treasury to 32,773 BTC and ranking it fifth among publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holders. The purchase was financed through its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock (SATA), alongside a $208M warrant exercise, with cash reserves growing to $310.3M through the period. Bitcoin holdings expanded 11.2% against a 9.4% rise in effective common share count, benefiting existing shareholders on a per-BTC basis. CEO Matt Cole has targeted second-largest public corporate holder by year-end, though Strive currently trails Metaplanet by 11,227 BTC.
BitMEX Sued in UK for Return of $27M BTC Over Unlicensed Derivatives (3 minute read)
A British software engineer has filed suit against BitMEX operator HDR Global Trading in London's Commercial Court, seeking return of 324.8 BTC (~$27.2M) on the grounds that BitMEX conducted regulated derivatives activity in the UK without FCA authorization. The claim, filed under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, targets 1,053 losing perpetual swap trades across five accounts from 2018 to 2022, arguing those contracts are unenforceable against UK residents who dealt with an unauthorized firm. A deceit claim accompanies the restitution suit, alleging BitMEX knew it lacked authorization while representing to clients it could lawfully trade with them. Barber's legal team at Seladore Legal suggests other UK users entered similar contracts, putting total potential exposure at hundreds of millions of pounds, with BitMEX having closed operations on September 23.
Agent-Native Elixir Stack With x402 Payments and WebMCP (5 minute read)
Regents Labs released an open-source Elixir/Phoenix/Ash stack for building agent-native applications, bundling WebMCP for exposing page tools to AI agents, SIWA for agent-specific authentication and sybil resistance, and x402 stablecoin payments for monetizing agent interactions. The stack separates agent and human identity layers, with Privy handling shared human accounts across five production sites already running the architecture. An open-source bootstrapping template called ash-template lets developers spin up compatible apps with payments, compute, and identity pre-wired, with Elixir chosen over TypeScript/React for cost and horizontal scaling at agent volumes. The platform distributes all revenue from its five properties to $REGENT token stakers, operating without VC backing.
Rain Launches Embedded Stablecoin Wallets, Files for OCC National Trust Charter (3 minute read)
Rain launched embedded stablecoin wallets supporting USDC, USDT, and other assets across 12 chains, including Base and Solana, paired with Rain-issued Visa and Mastercard cards accepted at 175 million merchant locations and USD payouts to 80+ countries. The launch follows Rain's acquisition of stored-value platform Ansa two months ago and an OCC national trust bank charter filing eight days prior, moves that shift the customer relationship away from third-party wallet infrastructure providers like Dynamic, Privy, and Turnkey. Rain's full stack spans card processing via Lithic, Episode Six, and Paymentology, direct Visa and Mastercard scheme memberships via Puerto Rico, and receivables financing through Credit Coop. An approved OCC charter would unlock custody monetization on top of a model that combines stablecoin rails with traditional finance licenses to function as a full-service card issuer.
The Death of the Interface (6 minute read)
Capable LLMs and stablecoin legislation enacted on two continents (the US GENIUS Act, effective January, and Europe's MiCA, now in full force) have converged. As AI agents displace app-based interfaces, today's payment infrastructure breaks down because its risk stack (authentication, fraud, disputes, and liability) assumes a human completing each transaction step, a premise that fails entirely in agent-to-agent commerce. David Marcus proposes "headless money" as the required fix: a stablecoin-settled, API-only payment layer combining embedded wallets, fiat connectivity, and card networks that agents can call without any frontend. Lightspark, which he leads, is building toward this stack, with the commercial logic that whoever controls agent-mediated purchase decisions captures marketplace-level economics rather than the 1-300 bps of a conventional payment rail.
Pair Tokens: Auto-Compounding ERC-20 LP Positions via Uniswap v4 Hooks (3 minute read)
StonkBrokers introduced Pair Tokens, a new ERC-20 primitive built on Uniswap v4 hooks that fuses two underlying assets into a single fungible token representing a full-range liquidity pool position. Unlike standard LP NFTs, Pair Tokens auto-compound through a permissionless compound function that reinvests accumulated trading fees back into the position, removing the need for manual fee harvesting. The ERC-20 format preserves composability, allowing Pair Tokens to be traded onchain, LPed, or integrated with launchpads, while a 10% fee on compounded LP fees funds $STONKBROKER token buybacks. Minting and redeeming are live on Robinhood Chain via the StonkBrokers platform as of October 13.
Aave V4 deposits are concentrated in partner-built hubs (2 minute read)
About 59% of deposits in Aave's new V4 markets sit in three partner-focused hubs (EtherFi Cash, Global Dollar, and Coinbase Stocks), together holding about $409M of the roughly $695M across 10 new markets. EtherFi's Cash hub alone holds $311.5M, nearly 45% of Q3 V4 deposits, and the DAO gets 20% of its revenue with no operating costs. Sentora has proposed a similar curated structure with a 50/50 revenue split, pending governance approval.
Prediction Market Data Ranks F1 as the Most Dramatically Volatile Sport (2 minute read)
Dragonfly Capital managing partner Haseeb Qureshi applied prediction market data to rank sports by drama, measuring minute-by-minute odds volatility as the metric for suspense rather than scoreboard activity. The methodology treats real drama as outcome probabilities shifting in real-time, discounting action that does not move win probability. F1 ranked first, followed by CS2, soccer, basketball, tennis, American football, and baseball, with golf last by a wide margin. The framework demonstrates prediction markets as a quantitative layer for analyzing real-world phenomena, well beyond their primary use in financial price discovery.
