SpaceX is close to finalizing a deal to acquire about 130,000 acres along the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico. The deal is expected to be officially announced later this month. The site, known as Pecan Island, is an 18-mile stretch of marshland. It became available as part of a legal settlement that resolved dozens of lawsuits blaming ExxonMobil for pollution and coastal land loss.
