Job Description

Join our team at JLINC as an experienced Principal Engineer and play a crucial role in driving the high-level design and architecture across our decentralized data exchange platform.

At JLINC, we are dedicated to creating technologies that enable self-sovereign identity and greater user-data ownership without relying on a centralized ledger. As a fast-paced and rapidly growing startup, your expertise will be invaluable in identifying new applications for our technologies.

What you will do

- Design, develop, and improve open-source, distributed data exchange protocols
- Architect and build full-stack greenfield proof-of-concept demos, often involving multiple apps
- Publish, maintain, and contribute to a suite of npm modules
- Stay current with the latest Web3 technologies to ensure our protocols remain competitive
- Hire, mentor, and guide junior engineers
- Collaborate with industry experts to discover new applications for JLINC technologies

You are an ideal candidate if you

- Possess 5+ years of experience writing professional production code
- Have a total of 5+ years of development experience in JavaScript or another programming language
- Have 3+ years of experience building rich web UIs with React, JavaScript, Angular, Redux, or similar frameworks
- Can read, write, and implement protocol specifications
- Thrive in a small engineering team and enjoy tackling open-ended problems
- Are eager to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies and processes

Bonus qualifications

- Desire to utilize crypto technologies without solely relying on blockchain
- Have experience with:
  - Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and distributed identity
  - JSON Web Tokens
  - Directed Acyclic Graphs
  - OpenID Connect (OIDC)
  - Microservices

This position is full-remote but bonus points if you live near the San Francisco Bay Area.
